Maureen Denise McCormick, the only child of Richard McCormick, and Irene McCormick, was born in Woodland Hills California on 5 August 1956. Her parents were an aunt who worked as an housewife, and her father who taught. Michael Dennis and Kevin are three of her elder brothers. McCormick was an accomplished singer and performer from an early age. She would perform shows using puppets for her neighbors. She was crowned in the Baby Miss San Fernando Valley Contest at age 6 and was contacted by Pat Domigan, a talent agent from the Jack Wormser Agency. He asked her if she wanted to be a part of the show business. McCormick's first job as a professional was in 1964, when she appeared in a commercial on TV for Mattels baby doll, Baby Pattaburp. She did another commercial in the year 1964 for Mattels Chatty Cathy toy and soon was cast as the leading character on the play Wind It Up and It is Broken, a show at La Jolla Playhouse. The Brady Bunch In 1969 McCormick was picked out of a crowd of over 1500 children who had auditioned to play the eldest of three towheaded girls in the upcoming TV comedy The Brady Bunch starring Florence Henderson as well as Robert Reed as newlyweds with a blended family. This show lasted for five seasons. McCormick admitted in Heres the Story. Surviving Marcia Brady, and Finding My True Voice (published in 2008) that McCormick almost lost her virginity to Barry Williams during the five-year duration in the series. He was just 19. She was 16. It could have been according to her. However, the timing for our marriage was not the right one.
