Arike Ogunbowale

Arike Ogunbowale, an American professional basketball player with the Dallas Wings in the Women's National Basketball Association. The team was selected with the 5th overall selection during the 2019 WNBA Draft by the Dallas Wings. Arike Ogunbowale was born Milwaukee Wisconsin on March 2 1997, was the daughter of Yolanda Ogunbowale and Gregory Ogunbowale. Mario Ogunbowale was her 26-year-old brother and Dare Ogunbowale, 20 years older. Since she was the youngest of her siblings, she was also the most lavishly treated from her family. Gregory, her father, was a member of the Nigerian Army quite a while. Ogunbowale comes from a family which has strong ties to sports world. Her mother Yolanda played softball for DePaul and her brother Dare is a football player. Her aunt was a volleyball player at UAPB and her cousin Endia Oliver too plays Volleyball on the field at Tennessee State. Ogunbowale has been on the school honour roll for three straight years. Aside from her fame, she has received various awards from her schooling. Arike graduated from high school training in Divine Savior Holy Angels High School, located in her home town. While studying at the school, she also played three seasons of varsity soccer. Ogunbowale led her team to spectacular victories through her amazing ability to score multiple times. She finished her high school professional career with 73 starts and lists career totals of seven39 and 1,477 rebound. Ogunbowale was a participant during the 2013 FIBA Americas U16 Championship 2014 FIBA U17 World Championship and 2013 FIBA 3x3 U18 Championship where she won gold medals. The USA Youth Olympic Team was announced as the USA Youth Olympic Women's Basketball Team on the 7th of July 2014. Ogunbowale was also named to the ACC All-Freshman Team following her initial year at a college. Kobe Bryant congratulated her after shooting a number of big shots in the NCCA Tournament.
